A useful women's panel covers more than the sex hormones. The Regener8 baseline is 50+ markers across 9 categories: the sex hormones including estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, LH and FSH; the full thyroid picture; metabolic and lipid markers; liver and kidney function; iron studies including ferritin; and a complete blood count. The groups outside the sex hormones are what let a clinician tell whether your symptoms are hormonal at all.
The sex hormones
Estradiol and progesterone are the ones most people come for. LH and FSH show what the pituitary is asking the ovaries to do, which is informative later in the transition. Total and free testosterone are included because women produce it and it declines with age. SHBG matters because it determines how much of your testosterone is actually available.
Thyroid, in full
TSH, Free T4 and Free T3. Thyroid dysfunction is the most common hormonal disorder in women after 40 and produces almost exactly the perimenopausal symptom picture, so leaving it off makes the rest of the panel harder to interpret.
The groups people skip
These are the ones that most often change the conclusion.
- Iron studies, ferritin included, because heavier perimenopausal periods make deficiency common and ferritin falls before hemoglobin does
- Metabolic markers, glucose and A1c, which drift as body composition changes
- Lipids, which shift measurably across the menopause transition
- Liver and kidney function, which determine what can safely be prescribed
- A complete blood count, which catches anemia and a good deal else
Where the blood is drawn
At a LabCorp site near you. Regener8 does not use at home kits for this panel.
How Regener8 approaches it
One draw covers the whole panel. A board certified clinician reads the whole panel with you on a 30 minute visit rather than sending a PDF, and retests twice a year so each result is read against your own previous numbers instead of a population average.
